Nepal is the only Hindu Kingdom in the world today. At the same time it is the land where Lord Buddha was born over 2,500 years ago. A landlocked country situated between India and the Tibetan Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China contains greatest altitudinal variation - from the deepest gorge of "Kali Gandaki", a mere 61 meters above the sea level to the highest point on earth "Mt. Everest", 8,848 meters above the sea level. |

The Annapurna circuit encompasses the entire Annapurna massif.
It begins at 3500 ft and crosses a 17,900 ft pass (Thorong
La), The route follows a major river, Marshyangdi, up one
side of Annapurna range, and after crossing Thorang La pass,
follows another deep gorge, to the Kali Gandaki River, and
down the other side.
You begin from Besisahar,
about 6/7-hr drive west from Kathmandu. The first few days
you walk through lowland rice paddies and by Chettri and
Brahmin villages, with a mix of Gurung people as well. You
follow the Marsyangdi River gorge, with daily ups and downs
that gradually gain in elevation and pass through a pine
forest. On day 5-6 you will come to the village of Chame
and Its beautiful hot springs. One day beyond Chame you
get to Braga in Manang valley, and start experiencing a
more Tibetan atmosphere. The people in this region are called
Manangis and are of Buddhist religion. The trekker can visit
an ancient Monastery in Braga at an elevation approximately
12,000 ft.-This is a great place to spend an acclimatization
day and visit Manang.
Three days beyond
Braga you cross Thorang La pass, climbing from the Phidi
camp at 14,500ft to 17,900 ft. Here you will have spectacular
views of the Himalayas. After which you will descend to
12,000ft to Muktinath and be ready for a good night's rest.
Muktinath is a famous
pilgrimage spot for Hindus and Buddhists, with holy springs
and an eternal flame. People of this village are originally
from Tibet, called Thakalis. Beyond Muktinath, you follow
the Kali Gandaki River south and pass through some interesting
old trade towns. This is the old trade route from Tibet
and can still see donkey trains carrying goods. After which
