Driving from Kathmandu to Lhasa, across the vast Tibetan Plategu, awakes a yearning to further explore this stark landscape to holy lakes, hidden caves, clustered mud-houses villages, and wildlife inhabited pasturelands. The dirt highway leaves Nepal's lust green valley behind as it passes over the Himalayan and onto the Tibetan moonscape.The 1,000 km drive crosses several passes upward of 5,000m /16,404 ft in route to Lhasa, with overnights and sightseeing of Shegar, Shigatse, and Gyantse and side trip to Sakya. You'll spend two days in Lhasa (3,650m / 12,000ft) touring the Potala palace, home of the Dalai Lama, the Buddhist monasteries. The flight back to Kathmandu caps off this trip of superlatives with a birds eye view of Everest.
Itinerary:
Day 01 :Fly to Lhasa (3650m) and visit Norbu Lingka
Day 02-03 :The Potala Palace, Drepung, Sera Joknang monasteries, Barkhor
Day 04 :Drive to Gyantse (3950 m) and visit Gyantse monastery -261 Km.
Day 05 :Drive to Shigatse (3900m) visit Thashilhunpo monastery and, market- 60 Km.
Day 06 : Drive to Shegar (4350 m) via Sagya monastery -244 Km.
Day 07 : Drive to Znangmu (2500m) -244 Km
Day 08 : Exit Tibet, Drive to Kathmandu

The trek follows an old trade route east; crossing several passes (3,840m/12,600 ft) before reaching the fortress town of Dolpa From here the trail turns northward; approaching LaKe Phoksundo (3,650m/12,000 ft), the sparkling turquoise Lake set below Shey Gompa, the setting of the book "!he_Sngw_ Leopard". Once lakeshore, you can day hike to a near by ridge top for views of the western Himalayas. Eventually arriving in the Dunai where you will grab a flight to Kathmandu. A unique Himalayan adventure that opens new discoveries each step.

Day 09: Jagdula Khola to Last Bridge.
